Biography
JOHNNY
COWLING
Comedian,
Singer and Entertainer
“One
of our great undiscovered comedy talents....He gave us an
hour of pure genius. He was brilliant - a true entertainer,
who could make anybody laugh.” Fern Britton,
presenter ‘This Morning’, ‘Celebrity Mr and Mrs’
Johnny
Cowling, 36, has been an entertainer for over ten years with
his unique blend of humour, music and a rare affinity to
bond with his audience. Coming from Cornwall he has
been compared to the comedy genius of Jethro, shares a lot
in common with the natural warmth of Michael Barrymore,
belts out a song almost as good as Elvis and has even been
described as having a ‘spoonful of Tommy Cooper’.
Hugely
popular in the South West of the UK, Johnny has recently
ventured further afield as a support act for Paddy McGuiness
on Tour and proved his ability to entertain audiences well
beyond his home town of St Merryn.
The
six foot one Cornishman is not just a pretty face with a
great talent for humour, he also has a great singing voice
and a penchant for belting out Elvis numbers almost as good
as the King himself! This was used to
great effect at a special Elvis anniversary Gospel night at
Truro Cathedral where 900 people turned up to watch Johnny
perform. Johnny was a runner-up in the GMTV’s Search
for Elvis. (Go on, treat yourself to some vocals while you
read the rest of this…. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9LqHGkZkSRA).
Johnny’s
previous experience has been centred largely in Cornwall,
supporting comedian, Jethro, regularly performing his own
shows around the region, and contributing to BBC Radio
Cornwall and BBC Video Nation. He is fast becoming a
popular booking for private and corporate events, including
This Morning presenter, Fern Britton’s 50th
birthday party, a Jag mobile phone event at Silverstone and
has played alongside the Eastenders team in celebrity
football. Johnny’s talent is now
becoming more widely recognised and he is ripe for
development as an entertainer on a national scale.
Johnny’s
ability to connect with his audience – and indeed to make
them an integral part of his performance – makes him more
than simply a comedian or singer. This natural warmth,
combined with his humour and charisma, makes him popular
with audiences of all ages and backgrounds and is an asset
just waiting to be exploited in the medium of television.
As
well as providing his entertainment for all manner of
charities - including the Children’s Hospice South West,
and various Churches all over the Country - Johnny has more
recently cycled London to Paris for the Meningitis trust and
Run the London Marathon for Cornwall’s Air Ambulance
raising over £8,500. Johnny is married to Sarah and
they have two children.
